Concord City Council Meeting to Speak During Public Comment

Tuesday, February 4, 2025
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM (PST)

Event Details

Your voice is urgently needed! The Concord City Council is meeting Tuesday, February 4th, at 6:30 PM, and they will be discussing potential changes to the Residential Tenant Protection Program that could have major impacts on your rental properties. More voices we can provide against the Rent Control ordinance, the more likely City Council will decide to weaken the ordinance.

Contra Costa Property Owners:

If you own property in Contra Costa, it is important that you attend this meeting and speak out, as these extreme rent control ordinances can easily spread and cause serious damage to the rental housing industry. There is ALREADY a housing shortage in CA. The LA fires have already done serious damage to shortages. We need a healthy and thriving rental industry and not more regulation that will bog down growth. This ultimately hurts renters.

You can read the agenda HERE.

Key Agenda Items:

  1. Expanding Regulations – The Council will discuss Whether/to what extent Concord Residential Tenant Protection Program should apply to rented single-family residences and rented condominiums
  2. Rent Cap Changes – They are also considering modifications to the allowable annual rent increase.

Here is what we need to demand of city council:

  1. Please demand that the city council NOT expand the Tenant Protection Program to include single-family homes and condominiums.
  2. Please demand that council increase the annual allowable rent increase amount to match California state law which is 10%, or 5% plus the percentage change in the cost of living, whichever is lower.

These changes could directly impact your ability to manage your properties, maintain financial stability, and provide quality housing in Concord. We need all rental property owners to show up and speak during public comment.

This is your chance to make your voice heard. If you don’t speak up, these changes could be decided without your input. Show up, speak out, and protect your rights as a rental property owner!
