About EBRHA

East Bay Rental Housing Association (EBRHA) is a nonprofit trade association with a $1.5M annual budget that serves the housing community in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. With 1500 members who own and manage almost 60,000 rental housing units and provide homes for more than 170,000 residents, EBRHA has been an essential resource to rental property owners/operators and their residents since 1939.


About the Housing Provider Resource Center (HPRC)

The HPRC is a new program, launch in late 2024, designed to support housing providers in the unincorporated areas of Alameda County. The HPRC provides resources, education, and assistance to help housing providers navigate the complexities of the rental market, comply with regulations, access financial incentives, and foster positive landlord-tenant relationships.

About the Role – Position Summary

The Outreach Coordinator & Program Ambassador will play a crucial role in promoting the HPRC and its services to the community. This role will involve a combination of community organization outreach, event coordination/management (virtual and in-person), and program ambassador activities to increase awareness and engagement with the HPRC.


We are seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator (Part-time) to join our team! You will be responsible for the public relations initiatives of the organization.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to reach housing providers across Alameda County.
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders, housing organizations, and other partners to promote the HPRC.
  • Coordinate and staff events, workshops, and presentations to educate housing providers about the HPRC's services.
  • Represent the HPRC at community events and meetings, serving as a program ambassador.
  • Disseminate outreach materials, including flyers, brochures, and social media content.
  • Track and report on outreach activities and outcomes.
  • Provide support and assistance to housing providers as needed.
  • Maintain a favorable public image for the organization
  • Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new business contacts
  • Help implement media relations programs to promote brand recognition
  • Assist with the development and selection of marketing and promotional materials

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Social Work, Community Development.
  • Business Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration or related major, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
  • Multilingual (fluent in English and Spanish)
  • Experience in program design/development, and event coordination/launch activities
  • Ability to staff/manage evening and weekend events
  • Reliable transportation to travel throughout Alameda County
  • Solutions oriented and a track record of creative problem solving in unstructured environments, critical thinking skill
  • Frequent engagement with social media marketing strategies
  • Deadline and detailed oriented

Preferred:
  • 3 or more years of housing, real estate, or education/training experience (a mix of for profit and nonprofit experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant laws and regulations in Alameda County
  • Strong communication (written/verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Experience as a community organizer and working with diverse groups and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently (self-directed) and collaboratively as part of a team
Additional Information:
  • This is a contractor role with an estimated time commitment of 20-40 hours per week.
  • The contractor will be responsible for tracking expenses, including transportation, food/beverage costs, and event materials.
  • The contract will be for a period of six (6) months, with the possibility of renewal.
  • The contractor will be required to attend regular meetings and training as needed.
  • The contractor will be required to submit regular timecards and program reports on their activities.
